All four.

My other new baby.

Not as cute as Danny, but very, very cool.

First day of school!

Ellie and Johnny both had their first day at their new school today. Very cute!

Father and son.

Awesome day yesterday in pretty strong surf pushing Matthew around on a board. He’s fearless.

We had a ton of fun and I’m a proud papa.

Dr. Horrible

I haven’t written in a while, and probably have a lot of updates to write to no one, but the thing I really must write about is Joss Whedon’s Dr. Horrible. Brilliant.

WATCH IT.

Wall-E

I took my kids to see Wall-E this past Friday. It is incredible — graceful, funny, and touching. Highly recommended whether you have children or not!

The bad and the good.

Well, I guess I’m not waiting until the end of the year to get a new Mac Pro after all. This morning, in the middle of transfering a couple hundred pictures onto my Mac, I smelled a bit of smoke and then next thing I knew — BANG — huge sound and my Power Mac G5 shut off, never to be revived. I have since read more than I care to about the power supply problems of this line. Hopefully the data on my hard drives is not lost, otherwise that will be a huge loss (all my pictures, songs, recordings, finances, …) as well as a huge pain in the neck. I’m hoping to limit it to a huge pain in the neck.

The bright side is that this was the excuse I needed to order a new eight-core Mac Pro, which is coming this weekend. Goodness knows how long it will take to get everything back in place.

One rude awakening was to learn that Apple’s neat Time Machine feature cannot be used to restore a previous computer’s image onto a new piece of hardware. So apparently my Time Machine backup is … useless. WTF?

Fun at the carnival.

Matthew, Ellie, Johnny, and their friend Ella enjoy the Notre Dame carnival.

Lost season finale.

I finally got to watch the season finale for Lost last night — I say “finally” but I only had to wait a day. Seemed like forever though!

A great finale of a great season for a show that just keeps getting more intriguing.

Three good links, all from the excellent Entertainment Weekly site on Lost:

I thought the season was excellent and they’ve done it to me again: I’m going to be thinking, reading, blogging, and confusing myself about this one all summer.

The Vista Blues.

This is priceless:
