Here is some music I like.
I’m back from a few days on the road to points west — a project meeting for one of our key clients and a visit to load-in of a big product launch we did this week. So I’m here in the office at my big desk catching up on email and basically scooting around on iTunes.
I noticed the other day that at least a few people are reading this blog, which is a curious feeling since this has heretofore been kind of a solo operation. But then again, in my last post I started whining about writing to no one, so I shouldn’t feel too curious. Plus, words are meant to be read and all of that.
So anyway, welcome. Allow me to bring you into my scooting.
Here are some albums I listened to on my recent trip — there, back, and in between. The proof: This is what comes up right now when I hit the “50 Most Played” smartlist in iTunes. Perhaps you might consider purchasing one or all for the reasonable price of $9.99 each. I hardly ever recommend music anymore, because I seem to have an inability to select music that anyone else likes, but — you’re here and we’re spending some time together, so why not?
- Set Yourself on Fire, Stars. Nice pop from Canadian band Stars. This is good stuff. I also cannot stop playing the song “Look Up,” from their last album, Heart.
- Make Believe, Weezer. I know. But who doesn’t like Weezer. Honestly.
- Songs for Silverman, Ben Folds. I love Ben Folds, who I will admit is an acquired taste for many. I love the version of “Give Judy My Notice” on this album. Worth a listen.
- Live Like You Were Dying, Tim McGraw. I must come clean. I must. Blame it on Indiana, blame it on bad radio, but — I have begun to listen to country. And not just country, but “hot country.” Guilty.
- Heaven or Las Vegas, Cocteau Twins. A classic, and my respectability hedge after admitting to Tim McGraw. This is an album everyone should own.
There. Get out the credit card and the headphones. Thanks for stopping by.
