The Man Behind the Curtain.

Holy smokes! That was an incredible episode of Lost – not just for the story, but for the fact that it pretty much threw an enormous monkey wrench into most theories I’ve heard to date. I imagine that many viewers are going back to the drawing board — I know I am.

The episode suggested a much more supernatural bent to the story than I had imagined, but I like it. My latest admittedly revisionist theory is that the island for some reason serves as a sort of nexus point to the spirit world. The island isn’t hell, or purgatory, but for whatever reason it does amplify signals from the afterlife to those who can hear them. And who can hear? People who have previously had some commune with death already: Jack, who drove his father to drink himself to death, sees his father; Kate, who killed her father, does as well; not to mention Locke, and Ben, and Hurley, and Mr. Eko.

In any case, that is my first reaction. I’ll be sharpening up my pencil this week.
