iWeb reconsidered.
I spent last night fiddling with iWeb ‘08 and I really like the WYSIWYG approach and the tight integration with the rest of iLife. But I do miss some of the power of WordPress. Apple’s templates are great but there aren’t that many that look really useful for just everyday use. And if you want to edit the template? Prepare to dig into XML. It is ironic that I want something simpler than the CSS of WordPress but iWeb actually is more complicated to get even simple control. Plus, the FTP is very basic so unless you are posting to .Mac, you don’t have many other options.
So, I’m going to check out some alternatives. Right now I’m looking at RapidWeaver, Goldfish, and Sandvox. All three are WYSIWYG editors with blog functionality that are a step down in complexity from GoLive and Dreamweaver.
I’ll keep you posted.
